Rare Bird of Fashion The Irreverent Iris Apfel
February 25 through May 27, 2007
An American original in the truest sense, Iris Apfel is one of the most vivacious personalities in the worlds of fashion, textiles, and interior design. She has cultivated
a personal style that is both witty and exuberantly idiosyncratic. With remarkable panache and discernment, she combines colors, textures, and patterns without regard to period, provenance, and ultimately, aesthetic conventions.
Rare Bird of Fashion: The Irreverent Iris Apfel was originally organized by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; this exhibition was adapted by the Norton Museum of Art for presentation in West Palm Beach.
The companion book for this exhibition is made possible through the generosity of the late Barry and Beverly Crown and their families.
Local sponsorship of this exhibition is made possible in part through the generosity of The Liman Foundation and the donors to the Premier Event: Rara Avis: Iris Apfel and the Art of Fashion.
Media support is provided by The Palm Beach Post, Palm Beach Daily News, WPTV NewsChannel 5 and WXEL 90.7 FM.
