Striking Resemblance: The Portrait as Muse
November 22, 2008 ― February 15, 2009

Striking Resemblance: The Portrait as Muse is an exhibition featuring the photographs of Valérie Belin, Andrea Robbins and Max Becher, and Hiroshi Sugimoto along with video works created by world-renowned artist Bill Viola. This exhibition shows how these artists work to extend, reinvent and ultimately transform the tradition of portraiture—a transformation that is nonetheless obliged to be cognizant of a long standing tradition.

Organized by the Norton Museum of Art.

This exhibition is made possible in part through the generosity of William and Sarah Ross Soter, the Photography Committee of the Norton Museum of Art, and The Milton and Sheila Fine Endowment for Contemporary Art.

Media support provided by The Miami Herald / El Nuevo Herald.
