Frequently Asked Questions for Corporate/Cocktail Receptions
Do I need an appointment to view the Museum?
Please schedule a site visit with the Facilities Use Coordinator between Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The Museum schedules events up to one year in advance.
What size reception can the Museum handle?
Up to 350 for a seated dinner with no dance floor.
What is provided in a base facility use?
For an evening event, you get the entire museum, security, maintenance and staff supervision for up to 3 hours and admission to the Museum's exhibition spaces during the cocktail hour. Pricing depends on size of group. A $250 security fee will apply for each additional hour. To include use of the Norton owned tables and chairs, a $300 set-up/breakdown fee applies. We have pricing for day time and evening rentals.
Can I bring my own caterer?
All food and beverage for events at the Norton Museum must be provided by our in-house caterer, Lyon + Lyon. Catering can assist in complete event planning including everything from linens, florals, lighting, equipment rentals and entertainment.
Who sets up my event?
All setup, delivery breakdown, etc. must be coordinated with the museum. All vendors are required to attend a walkthrough prior to the event date to review loading and setup procedures. A signed acknowledgement of the facility use guidelines for the museum is required from all vendors as well as a certificate of liability insurance.
What about a Kosher menu?

How early can my event start?
The museum is open until 5 p.m. and we are able to host evening rentals from 6 p.m. onwards. Vendors and other guests helping set-up may arrive early. Event times are from 6 p.m. to midnight.
Do you have outdoor spaces?
Yes. If you have cocktails outside, an alternate location in the Museum will be used during inclement weather. A call on the weather is typically made by 2 p.m. or earlier depending on setup, the day of the event.
May I decorate?
You may decorate within your designated time, we do not allow flame, dirt/soil, wall hangings, helium balloons, animals and all artwork must be approved. All décor must be removed immediately following the event. Please see Facility Use Guidelines for more information.
