Carlos Eire’s memoir Waiting for Snow in Havana: Confessions of a Cuban Boy received the 2003 National Book Award for Nonfiction.  Described as an “ode to paradise lost,” the book chronicles Eire’s memories of his life in Havana, cut short when he was just eleven years old. Discuss the connection between the themes in this book and Si Se Pudiera by Cuban-born artist José Bedia.  

Nieve en La Habana: Confesiones de un Cubanito, el relato autobiográfico de Carlos Eire, recibió  el Premio Nacional del Libro de No Ficción de 2003. Descrito como una “oda al paraíso perdido,”  el libro narra las memorias  de su niñez en la Habana, la cual tuvo que abandonar cuando sólo tenía once años. Discuta la conexión  entre los temas del libro y Si Se Pudiera del artista Cubano José Bedia.

Dawn Tripp’s 2016 novel spans O’Keeffe’s adult life, including her early correspondence and encounters with Stieglitz, her work in New Mexico, the commission for the Rockefeller Center mural (which was never realized), Stieglitz’s death in 1946 and beyond.  Discuss the connections between the book and O’Keeffe’s work in the Museum Collection.
