School Tours k–12
Viewing and discussing original works of art enriches learning and enhances critical thinking skills. When children, look carefully, and engage with works of art, they find that art can possess multiple layers of meaning. The Norton offers a wide range of themed tours created specifically for students in grades K–12. Tours have accompanying lesson plans that are designed to meet Florida State Standards and can be completed in the classroom before or after Museum visits. Lesson plans and information about school tours are available at www.norton.org/school-tours. The Norton Museum of Art offers on-site professional development workshops and online teacher resources. The Norton’s free Professional Development Sessions inspire participating teachers to create connections between the Museum Collection and Florida State Standards. These customized sessions include gallery exploration, interactive activities, discussion, and curriculum connections that can be implemented in the classroom.
