Art After Dark / Celebrating Native American Heritage Month

Friday, November 18 / 5PM-10PM

The Norton is proud to present a night of events celebrating Native American Heritage Month in partnership with the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida. Federally recognized in 1962 as the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida, this proud nation resides in the heart of the Florida Everglades. They are one of only two Native Nations to have never signed a peace treaty with the United States. A matriarchal society with a strong clan family system, the Miccosukee Tribe has maintained their way of life through their sovereignty. They have their own school system, health, police and fire departments, government, and judicial system. Get to know descendants of the original occupants of this land and what they are all about.
