María Berrío (Colombian, born 1982), Anemochory, 2019

Join the Norton’s school and teacher programs team as we introduce this year’s Chris and Bernard Marden Community Gallery student exhibition: Art Experimentation and Collage!

This professional development workshop is for middle and high school visual art educators interested in submitting students’ works of art for this upcoming exhibition. All Palm Beach County private, parochial, charter, and public school visual arts teachers are welcome to participate. The exhibition will open in April 2021.

Cheryl Brutvan, Director of Curatorial Affairs / Glenn W. and Cornelia T. Bailey Curator of Contemporary Art, will give an exclusive look at the upcoming RAW (Recognition of Art by Women) exhibition, María Berrío: Esperando mientras la noche florece. Berrío utilizes painting, drawing, and torn paper to create narratives that are both fantasy and familiar. Glenn Tomlinson, William Randolph Hearst Curator of Education, will share a brief history of collage and assemblage. Then, Meredith Gregory and Veronica Hatch from the school programs team will share details on the student exhibition including a discussion on how to incorporate this year’s theme into your classroom. This is a not-to-miss program for any Palm Beach County middle and high school art educator interested in submitting student artwork for this year’s upcoming Marden Community Gallery exhibition, Art Experimentation and Collage.
