Floral Orchestration: Joseph Stella's Tree of My Life

Thursday, December 17 / 2pm

Glenn Tomlinson, William Randolph Hearst Curator of Education

Although Joseph Stella is not as well-known as his contemporaries Georgia O’Keeffe, John Marin or Edward Hopper, his visually arresting painting Tree of My Life (1919-1920), embodies the most advanced ideas in modern painting, as well as the artist’s great ambition. Join Glenn Tomlinson, William Randolph Hearst Curator of Education, for a conversation that explores the painting, on loan from Art Bridges, and its relation to Stella’s more famous images of the Brooklyn Bridge and Coney Island.
