Young Friends Acquisition Council

The Young Friends Acquisition Council is a unique opportunity reserved for Young Friends Patron members to further engage their interests in collecting and the current art market through conversations with curators and art professionals. The council also has the responsibility of managing and promoting the Young Friends Acquisition Fund.

During the upcoming season, the Council will meet with Norton curators to review possible acquisition items and, at the end of the season, will vote on a work(s) to acquire for the Museum Collection.

Through the Young Friends Acquisition Fund, the Council was able to select and purchase a significant work for the Museum Collection in the 2017-2018 season: Untitled, 1984 by Francesco Clemente. Other opportunities for the group included a celebratory dinner with Director of Curatorial Affairs Cheryl Brutvan and Executive Director Hope Alswang, and VIP passes for local and national art fairs such as Art Basel Miami Beach, Frieze New York, Palm Beach Modern and Contemporary, The Armory Show, and TEFAF (The European Fine Art Fair) New York.
