A Message From the Director

Dear Friends,

It is my great pleasure to greet you as the new Director and CEO.

The Norton is a magnificent institution with a deep history (2021 is our 80th anniversary!), a permanent collection unlike any in the region, groundbreaking and impactful exhibitions and educational programs, an inspiring architectural facility and landscape, tremendous community of supporters, and a bright future. I could not be happier or more proud to join the Norton, and all of you, and to begin work.

The Museum is open each week Friday-Sunday, and I encourage you to come soon to see three superb new exhibitions: a survey of the brilliant art of Maria Berrio, a powerful meditation on immigration by Jose Alvarez, and Art Finds a Way which illuminates themes of racial injustice and solace through works in the Contemporary Collection. Norton programs are available 24/7 online through Norton From Home, featuring renowned speakers, gallery tours, musical performances, and more.

I would like to draw your attention to a very exciting online art auction that has just opened for bidding! The 80th Anniversary Art Auction, presented by Sotheby’s, features 90 works by an amazing array of international art stars and regional and national talents. Proceeds will benefit the curatorial program, Recognition of Art by Women exhibition series, and diversity initiatives at the Norton. Click here to browse and bid, and thank you! Your support is so important to the Museum.

I look forward to meeting the Norton community, to listening and learning, and to working together to continue innovating and making this Museum even better and more essential for its next 80 years.

With best wishes,
Ghislain d’Humieres
Director and CEO
