Cuban-born artist María Magdalena Campos-Pons creates photographs, video, and performance installations chronicling the survival of African cultures by calling to mind narratives that have unfolded though generations. In this interdisciplinary workshop, Campos-Pons introduces participants to the concept of the artist as social designer. Through performance, painting, and other multi-media exercises, students explore curating human interaction and aesthetics in public spaces. Campos-Pons’ work is in the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Art Institute of Chicago, among other museums.
