VIRTUAL Curator Conversation: Mulan: The History of a Legend

Friday, November 20 / 7PM-8PM

ONLINE: Mulan: The History of a Legend

Friday, November 20, 7pm

Mulan is one of the foremost legendary women of ancient China. The tale of her selfless heroism was first orally transmitted, retold in the famous poem “Ballad of Mulan”, and expanded upon in plays, novels, music, comics, television, and movies, including the 2020 feature film. Laurie Barnes, Elizabeth B. McGraw Curator of Chinese Art, and Joy Lidu Yi, Associate Professor and Curator of Chinese Art and Archaeology at Florida International University explore art and history connected with the legend of Mulan, which has inspired people for more than 1,500 years.
