This Hispanic Heritage Month, join the Norton in celebrating the rich, diverse cultures from across South America, Central America, Mexico, the Caribbean, and our own communities. This exciting festival features Latin music, dance, art activities, and much more.

Great Hall

NORTON ART + AUGMENTED REALITY ACTIVITY
Pick up an iPad in the Great Hall and explore five artworks from the Norton’s Collection in English or Spanish through the augmented reality app!

KICKOFF PRESENTATION WITH TRADITIONAL MARIMBA
Kick off Nuestra Cultura with the vibrant sounds of Marimba Anhelos del Copal, celebrating the rich musical traditions of Guatemala.

MARIACHI PANCHO VILLA
For three decades, Mariachi Pancho Villa has brought the rich traditions of Mexican music to life. Experience corrido, cumbia, and other timeless favorites.
1 – 2 pm

CUBAN FLAVOR BAND
Miami’s Cuban Flavor Band closes out the festivities with a journey through Cuba’s music — from danzón to guaracha to Buena Vista classics — sending everyone home dancing and celebrating.

Korman Room

COMMUNITY PARTNERS
Learn how Hispanic, Latino, and Indigenous organizations in Palm Beach County are making a positive impact in our communities.

DOMINOES
Learn to play dominoes with The Puerto Rican Cultural Society of Palm Beach County and discover why this centuries-old game is a beloved pastime throughout the Caribbean and Latin America.

Savor empanadas inspired by a variety of Latin cultures — crafted fresh by The Restaurant — and enjoy them alongside Latin American beers and specialty cocktails.

Stiller Auditorium

LAS PAISANAS
Founded by three 11th-grade students at Young Women’s Preparatory Academy in Miami, this vibrant group celebrates the richness of Hispanic and Latin dance.

SYMBOLISM IN THE SKIES: GUATEMALA’S KITE TRADITION
Join José R. Mendez, Creative Director of R. Dot Arts & Creative Agency, for a 15-minute talk on Guatemala’s giant kites — vivid works that honor ancestry, community, and the link between earth and sky. Then, view a traditional kite on display in the Museum’s Fabrikant Lobby up close.

LATINOS IN ACTION
Enjoy a special presentation by Latinos in Action, featuring a variety of performances in poetry, music, and more by Palm Beach County high school students.

Floor 2 / Learning and Community Engagement Center

OPEN STUDIO / CALAVERITAS (CLASSROOM 1)
Led by Museum Educator Lymari Cuevas, decorate a mini plaster skull magnet inspired by Day of the Dead traditions of Mexico and other Latin American countries.
11 am – 1 pm

OPEN STUDIO / HUIPIL PAPER COLLAGE (CLASSROOM 2)
Led by Museum Educators Amaya Estrada and Katherine Hofmann, create your own paper huipil collage inspired by the traditional blouses of Mexico and Central America. Add patterns, colors, and decorations to celebrate this vibrant art form.
11 am – 1:30 pm and 2 – 4 pm

OPEN STUDIO / FLORES DE PAPEL (PAPER FLOWERS) (CLASSROOM 1)
Led by Museum Educator Shannon Walker. Create your own vibrant paper flowers, inspired by the traditional flores de papel found across Mexico and Latin America. These colorful decorations are used in weddings, festivals, and community celebrations — including Día de los Muertos — to honor tradition and celebrate life.

DANCE CLASS
Join dance instructor Jan Clancy for a lively hour of dancing! Learn the basics of bachata, merengue, and salsa — no partner or experience required. Just bring your energy and get ready to move, groove, and celebrate culture through dance.

PIÑATA PARTY
Bring the kids for a pull-string piñata party — no sticks, just ribbons, surprises, and plenty of candy fun!

Take a moment to reflect. Close your eyes and think of a thought, feeling, or idea that is meaningful to you. Write it down on a piece of paper, then read it to yourself — or share it with others if you wish. Once finished, tie your note to the cord, joining it with the thoughts of many others.Ongoing, 11 am – 3:30 pm

CANDY TABLE
After the piñata party, bring the kids over to enjoy all the candy flavors of Latin America.

Parking in the Norton Museum visitor lot will be free during the day. Spaces are limited, so please carpool or use public transportation if possible. Free overflow parking will be available for the day at the Family Church lot.
