Overview

The Norton Museum of Art’s 2023 Benefit Auction includes more than 45 exceptional works of art by pre-eminent artists from some of the world’s leading galleries. Most lots are available exclusively online. Six lots will auctioned live at the Norton Museum of Art’s Gala on February 4, 2023.

Auction proceeds benefit the Norton’s curatorial, learning, and community engagement programs.

In addition to being available to browse online on Sothebys.com, auction works are on view at the Norton Museum of Art to view in person from Monday, January 16 through Monday, February 6. The Museum is open seven days a week.

How to Browse and Bid Online

Browse Auction and Bid

Browse.  You can find and browse the auction at this link, by searching “Norton Museum of Art” on Sothebys.com, or on the Sotheby’s app. 

Bid. You need a Sothebys.com account to bid. The first time you place a bid, you will be asked to either log in or create a new account on Sothebys.com or the Sotheby’s app. Bidding opens on Friday, January 27 and lots will close on Monday, February 6 at 2pm ET.

Select the lots you wish to bid on and place your maximum bid. The online platform will place incremental bids on your behalf up to the maximum amount specified. Use the ‘Quick Bid’ feature to increase your bid to the next increment.

Watch your bids! If you are outbid, you will be notified on the auction catalogue page, by email, and by push notifications (if enabled on your smartphone).

After your lot has closed, you will be notified on the auction and lot detail pages as well as via email. If you are the winning bidder, you will receive an invoice from the Norton Museum of Art shortly after the auction including your total charges along with payment and property collection instructions.
