American Modernism: Expanding the Narrative

Held in conjunction with the special exhibitions At the Dawn of a New Age: Early Twentieth-Century American Modernism and From Man Ray to O’Keeffe: American Modernism at the Norton, this panel focuses on the exciting ways in which histories of American modernism are being rewritten and expanded. Gilbert R. Vicario, Chief Curator at the Perez Art Museum Miami, and Crawford Alexander Mann III, Director of Curatorial Affairs and Chief Curator at the Telfair Museums in Savannah, will offer brief talks about important artists whose work is now being rediscovered. Whitney Museum of Art curator Barbara Haskell, organizer of At the Dawn of a New Age, will then join them for a panel discussion and Q&A moderated by Ellen Roberts, the Norton’s Harold and Anne Berkley Smith Senior Curator of American Art.

Space is limited and tickets are available at the Reception Desk one hour before program.

Cost: Museum admission/Members FREE
