Celebrate Black History Month during Art After Dark! Docent led tours will highlight Black artists from in our Collection, A Curator Tour by Tiera Ndlovu will visit her special exhibition Origin Stories: Photography of Africa and Its Diaspora, and a performance by South-Florida musicians Marnino & Purple Flux that combines hip-hop, R&B, and spoken word poetry. This night will also mark the opening of Drawing Transformed, the Student Art Exhibition in Marden Community Gallery.

Open Studio / Drawing Inspiration
Feeling inspired by the Museum’s collection? Learn how to create your own drawings with a mixed-media element. Join artist Shawna Moulton for a portrait collage workshop in the styles of African American artists Mickalene Thomas and Romare Bearden.
About the artist: Born and raised in the Caribbean Islands, Shawna Moulton is a multidisciplinary artist and art educator based in South Florida. Her work currently focuses on mixed media portraits of people in the African Diaspora.
Open to all ages and levels of artistic talent! Materials are provided.

Curator Tour

Live Music / Maranino & Purple Flux
Marnino & Purple Flux is a 4-piece band out of Miami, FL that fuses the best of R&B, Soul, Funk, and Hip-hop into one sensual soundscape. The groove is glued together and held tightly by Kalil Bohannon (drums) and Anthony Amador (bass), one of the tightest SoFlo produced rhythm sections around. Victor Marquez (guitar) and Marnino Toussaint (vocals) provide a collage of melody, texture, and lyrics whose colors paint the most common of human experiences ever so vividly.
The collective of musicians has already garnered acclaim from the likes of Masego and Guapdad4000 for their classic Freestyle Fridays shared via Instagram. The group has noted D'Angelo, Quest Love and The Roots, Anderson.Paak and the Free Nationals, Prince, Mac Ayres, and Masego as some of the various influences to their sound.

Attending Art After Dark
Hours: The museum is currently open to the public until 10 pm on Friday nights.
Entry: Admission during Art After Dark is $10 for Adults & Seniors, $5 for Students. Tickets may be purchased at the Reception Desk or reserved in advance.

Parking: Parking is available in the Norton’s main parking lot at 1501 South Dixie Highway, immediately across the street from the Museum. Parking is $5 per car, per day. Norton Members park for free.
Food and drink: The Restaurant at the Norton offers indoor and outdoor seating with beautiful views of our Sculpture Garden. Along with great food, The Restaurant serves creative cocktails, wine, and champagne. Reservations available through Tock.
