  • Screening / La Claridad

    Stiller Auditorium

A documentary film directed by Dave Simonds.

The spectacular story of a 1924 Palm Beach house as told by historians, former residents, and the architects and builders who brought it back to its original grandeur.

Golfview Road was ground zero for the 1920s explosion of Mediterranean architecture on the island of Palm Beach. The 1924 Marion Sims Wyeth house La Claridad received a major restoration (2018 – 2020) which was documented by filmmaker Dave Simonds. As we follow this extensive restoration project we meet an ensemble of historians, architects, builders, former residents, and neighbors who bring to life this iconic house. The history of the grand house on the corner guides us toward a deeper understanding of who we were, where we are today, and where we’re heading.

This screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Dave Simonds, director of the documentary La Claridad, and Jane S. Day, author of From Palm Beach to Shangri-la: The Architecture of Marion Sims Wyeth

Tickets for this screening and panel will be available from Visitor Experience staff one hour before the program begins.
