Art After Dark : June 11

Celebrate the opening night of For the Record: Celebrating Art by Women at Art After Dark!

Join a virtual art workshop inspired by Modus Operandi, 2005 by Kiki Seror, on view in the exhibition.  Sundown Cinema presents a virtual screening of “When We Gather” (2021), a short art film celebrating women who have played an elemental role in the progress of the United States and calling for a path forward for the leaders of the future.

  • Virtual Open Studio: Jill Lavetsky

    Make up-close and personal self-portraits! Zoom in on a feature of your face or body to make an abstracted and unique work of art inspired by Modus Operandi, 2005 by Kiki Seror. Jill Lavetsky is a Teaching Artist at the Norton and a professional artist whose work explores the complex nature of intimate relationships and her experience as a mother. This is a live, virtual workshop presented on Zoom. Free RSVP for link to join.

  • Spotlight Talks in the Garden

    Spotlight Talks offer brief talks on two sculptures in the Norton’s sculpture gardens. This week features Ugo Rondinone (Swiss, born 1964) MOONRISE. east. november, 2006 and Keith Haring (American, 1958-1990) Julia, 1987. To join, meet in the Fabrikant Lobby (outside the Restaurant).

  • Sundown Cinema: “When We Gather"

    This is a limited virtual screening

    When We Gather, conceived by renowned artist María Magdalena Campos-Pons, is a short art film that celebrates the women who have played an elemental role in the progress of the United States and offers a call to create a path forward for the leaders of the future. The film will be followed by When We Gather: Together, a 35-minute special that contextualizes the themes of the film: heal, unite, create.

Attending Art After Dark

Hours: The museum is currently open to the public until 10 pm on Friday nights.

Entry: Admission during Art After Dark is $10 for Adults & Seniors, $5 for Students. Tickets may be purchased at the Reception Desk or reserved in advance

Parking: Parking is available in the Norton’s main parking lot at 1501 South Dixie Highway, immediately across the street from the Museum. Parking is $5 per car, per day. Norton Members park for free.

Food and drink: The Restaurant at the Norton offers indoor and outdoor seating with beautiful views of our Sculpture Garden. Along with great food, The Restaurant serves creative cocktails, wine, and champagne. Reservations available through Tock.
