Curator Conversation: “Performance is not (and never was) a medium”

Friday, September 15 / 6PM-7PM

Stiller Auditorium

In 2016, theorist Jonah Westerman stated “performance is not (and never was) a medium, not something that an artwork can be but rather a set of questions and concerns about how art relates to people and the wider social world.” Over a century after its inception in the 1910s, performance art is still underrecognized as a pillar of modern art due to its intangible and ephemeral nature. Join Tiera Ndlovu, Curatorial Research Associate and curator of Past Lives: Performance Art through the Camera, in a discussion of the history and significance of the medium.

Space is limited; online registration required.

Cost: Museum Admission/Members FREE
