How do you Value Contemporary Art?

Kathryn Widing and Cheryl Brutvan

Sunday, December 1 / 2pm

Cheryl Brutvan, Director of Curatorial Affairs and Glenn W. and Cornelia T. Bailey Curator of Contemporary Art, and Kathryn Widing, Associate Specialist, Head of Sale, Post-War and Contemporary Art at Christie’s, discuss how the contemporary art market establishes value and how these values may differ between auction houses and museums. Widing is responsible for Christie’s highly successful mid-season contemporary sales in March, July, September, and December. She also has a specialty and interest in works by female and under-recognized artists.
