Virtual Curator Conversation / Tigers in The Lantern Festival and Other Chinese Works

Tuesday, February 15 / 2-3pm

Join us to celebrate the Lantern Festival (Shangyuan Jie), which concludes the fortnight long Chinese New Year celebration intended to welcome good fortune in 2022, the Year of the Tiger. Laurie Barnes, Elizabeth B. McGraw Curator of Chinese Art, explores the significance of tiger imagery found in six rare, intricately painted hanging scrolls depicting a Lantern Festival, on view until February 20, 2022, as well as other works in the Chinese collection representing tigers.

This program is free to Museum members and included with admission for non-Members.

Support for Curator Conversations was provided by the Gayle and Paul Gross Education Endowment Fund.
