Music
Harmonic Motion
Harmonic Motion presents a program of Arabic music and dance that includes both classical and folk representations. Musical pieces highlight the work of prolific Egyptian composers, and dance reflects the Raks Sharki style (eastern dance) as well as the Shamadan (candelabrum dance) and Raks al Assaya (stick dance). Instrumentation includes the oud (Arabic lute), Egyptian tabla (hourglass-shaped drum), and riqq (classical frame drum with cymbals).
Performers include Harmonic Motion’s Joe Zeytoonian and Myriam Eli, with guest artists Dawn Rhys, Fadi El Sabeh, Magda, and Yvonne.
