6-7pmCurator Conversation | "Flowers in Chinese Paintings"

Join Shawn Yuan, Elizabeth B. McGraw Senior Curator of Asian Art, for a talk exploring the rich and enduring tradition of flower painting in China. Celebrated not only for their beauty but also for their deep symbolic meanings, flowers have long held a special place in Chinese art. This talk will highlight key works by major artists in Chinese art history, including those currently on view in La Florida: Flowers in Chinese Paintings. A brief tour of the installation will follow.

Jin Lee Hanley is Chair of the Department of Dance at Palm Beach Atlantic University and Director of the PBA Dance Ensemble. Born and raised in South Korea, she blends Asian elegance and authentic cultural expression, drawing on over 30 years of professional dance experience in Florida, New York City, and internationally.
For Art After Dark, the PBA Dance Ensemble — comprised of dedicated dance students from Palm Beach Atlantic University — will present selected works from their full-length program. The performance will feature Buchae chum (Korean Fan Dance), choreographed by Jin Lee Hanley, and Sogo Chum (Small Drum Dance), re-staged by Hanley and originally taught by Yun Young-sook.
The evening will also include American cultural works, such as "Fosse Medley," choreographed by Jacquie Lopez, and "Shine," choreographed by Stella Almblade, "The Blessing," choreographed by Shizu Yasuda — esteemed faculty members of PBA’s Dance Department.
