Friends of American Art

The Friends of American Art (FOAA) provides leadership and advocacy in building the Museum’s collection of American art before 1960 by contributing acquisition funds, making individual donations of art, and providing expertise in support of projects related to American art. Participants gather for exclusive programming, including collection visits, special presentations by experts in the field, and the annual acquisitions meeting. The group, which has doubled in size since its founding in 2014, actively continues its efforts to acquire significant works for the Norton’s American art department and plan exciting, scholarly programming.

American Collection

The Museum’s collection of American paintings, sculpture, and works on paper contains approximately 1,000 works of art dating from the 18th century to 1960.
